Like everyone else, I am somewhat stunned by the rapid departure of 2017. It was a "best of times, worst of times" sort of year. Not for me personally, but, you know, in general. However, as Forrest Gump put it, "That's about all I got to say bout that . . . " (For the time being, at least.)
Because of some late year obligations - good stuff - but it meant colliding deadlines, Christmas was upon me before I felt "ready." But, ready-or-not, here it came - and everything was done on time - stocking stuffers purchased, gifts wrapped, menus planned - there just wasn't the luxury of taking my time to do it. I rushed here and there and didn't get a single blog, project, or recipe posted, and Christmas projects and recipes are often the best ones of the year! I've spent the first few days of the new year getting organized, an annual task, and very time consuming, but very necessary. It is an ongoing job throughout the year, but January demands a little more in order to approach the coming months with some semblance of control. It's fairly important to know if I'm pulling into or backing out of the garage.
Although I ceased making resolutions early in my life, there is always a period of reflection as an old year disappears down the tracks. I realized I'd not had much time to enjoy what I like doing most - finding time to simply savor the small tasks of daily life. To act on an idea or tackle a project in that first rush of creative energy. I want to rediscover the wonder of a fresh snowfall with Teddy, my grandson . . . grab my camera and catch a sunset . . . meet friends for coffee more often . . . finish the quilt I've been stitching on for far too long. So, that is my goal for 2018, along with some more intensive endeavors, to allow more time for recess.
Please enjoy browsing through my spanking fresh and updated web page. There is a new recipe - Slow Cooker Stuffed Peppers - perfect for these arctic January days. And, just for fun, I've posted a winter column from many years ago, and probably will continue to occasionally include a "vintage column" in the coming months. As always, I love hearing from you!
